Barcelona will create 70 new shaded areas this summer with canopies and trees, improving parks, squares, and play areas to fight the heat and make the city more livable.
As part of the Climate Plan promoted by the Barcelona City Council, at Benito Urban we have installed shade structures in around fifteen parks, squares, and gardens throughout the city. We actively contribute to the fight against climate change and to improving thermal comfort in public spaces. Our micro-perforated canopies allow natural airflow and generate dynamic shade inspired by the effect of tree leaves. In addition, they are resistant to UV radiation, wind, and rain, and are designed to blend aesthetically into the urban environment. With a combined investment of over €800,000, through contracts with the City Council and BIMSA, we have developed tailored solutions for each location, with shaded areas ranging from 20 to 140 m².
This project is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and the design of urban furniture that makes cities more livable and climate-resilient.
The press conference with the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, was held at the Antonio Santiburcio children's park, in the Sant Andreu area of Barcelona.
